Demand is the desire and ability to purchase or lease goods and services.

The consumer must have the purchasing power (ability) to buy goods and services as well as the desire.

1.Million dollar houses would not sell well in a blue collar city because of the lack of ability to buy.
2.Edsel is the classic example of the lack of consumer desire.  It was affordable, but nobody wanted it.
