Township and Range Lines

The east west lines are Township Lines.  The north south lines are Range Lines.  

 

Township and range lines are 6 miles apart.

The squares formed by the township lines and range lines are Townships.  

Each township is 6 miles by 6 miles and is further divided into 36 squares called sections.
