Appurtenance

  Previous topic Next topic

An Appurtenance is that which belongs to something.

That which is appurtenant to real estate is said to "run with the land".  In other words, if the land is sold, that which is appurtenant stays with the land at the sale of the land.

If something is appurtenant to the real estate, it is part of the real estate.

Houses, fixtures, growing plants (except some crops), etc. are appurtenant to the land.
